Would you like to become a first-year student ?

Since 2003, Studies Sciences Po Rennes has offered a special first-year admissions process for international students, who submit an application and attend an interview.

  • be of foreign nationality
  • hold a secondary-school diploma (‘baccalaureate’) from a French high school or equivalent diploma
  • have an excellent level of spoken and written French
  • have extensive knowledge of French culture, history and society
  • A selection committee of professors chosen by the Director meets to review applications and select candidates for an interview.

Candidates must submit a complete application with the documents listed below for an assessment of their academic performance, their fluency in French and their degree of motivation :

  • A completed application form
  • A photocopy of an identification document that indicates the candidate’s nationality
  • A personal statement explaining why the student wishes to study at Sciences Po Rennes and their career goals.
  • A resume
  • A certified copy of previously obtained diplomas and degrees (a high school diploma equivalent to the French baccalaureate and, if applicable, a post-secondary degree) with their translation into French or English.
  •  A certified copy of the candidate’s academic record (official transcripts of their last three years of study) translated into French.
  • A certified copy of their Diploma in Advanced French Language Studies (DALF) and transcript, or Diploma in French language studies (DELF) and transcript, or the results of a French knowledge test (TCF), with a level of B2 or higher. Contact the cultural services department of the French Embassy or the Alliance française office nearest you for more information about these diplomas and tests.


Note : The selection committee will not review applications that are incomplete or not accompanied by all required documents.

  • From January 24 to March 7, 2024 :application forms available to download
  • March 8, 2024 : Application submission deadline (applications must be postmarked no later than this date)
  • March 15, 2024 : review of applications by the selection committee
  • April 5, 2024 :interviews and final review by the selection committee
  • April 12, 2024 :publication of results

Are you a student at a partner institution ?

Nominations : Erasmus+ partner institutions publish the names of students selected for a year of study at Sciences Po Rennes via the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) system. Bilateral partner institutions nominate their students by email. Nominated students receive a link to complete their application form on line.

Applications : Students fill out an online application form. Information provided on the application form must match information on identification documents. They will have to choose from among the three study programs on offer. After the application is submitted with the necessary documents, the international mobility office will send a letter of admission or refusal to students within four weeks.

Would you like to submit an independent application ?

Students who do not attend a partner institution of Science Po Rennes can apply independently as free mover students. Contact our training and mobility office during the nomination period to obtain a link to complete an on-line application form. They will have to choose from among the three study programs on offer. Candidates must submit a complete application with the documents listed below for an assessment of their academic performance, their fluency in French or English and their degree of motivation. If the student is accepted, he or she must pay the application fee for the requested program of study.

  • A scanned copy of your passport (or identity card for EU/EEA citizens) 
  • A cover letter in French or English depending on the program (for free mover applicants only)
  • A resume in French or English depending on the program (for free mover applicants only)
  • A copy of an French or English language test result: DELF or IELTS, TOEFL. (Level B1 required) 
  • Your most recent transcripts in French or English
  • A copy of your most recent degree or diploma (for free mover applicants only)
  • A letter of recommendation from a professor (for free mover applicants only)
